The type of personal information I collect 


I currently collect and process the following information:


When you contact me:

  • Personal data you provide about yourself (for example, your name and contact details e.g. an email or postal address)
  • you provide a name and an email address when submitting a form. I do not ask for any other details. What you provide is up to you.

When a third-party contacts me about their interactions with you (e.g. a courier):

  • Personal data provided by a third-party such as your name, contact details and specific circumstances.

When you visit this website, or interact with this site or me via social media:

  • Your IP address and browsing preferences and cookie choices; whilst I will not be able to directly identify this information, I use web services, such as Google Analytics, that will.


If you commission me to do work for you:

  • Your name and email address. I will also ask you for your normal mailing address for my invoice. 
  • Depending on the assignment you may choose to disclose various other data. What you disclose is your choice.


How I get the personal information and why I have it

Your personal information may be collected from a number of sources and most of the personal information I process is provided to me directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • When you contact or interact with this website by email or when you communicate with me through social media;
  • From forms you may complete on this website;


I also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • When you visit this website, including through the use of cookies;
  • From third-party payment gateways;
  • My website hosting service (GoDaddy) in relation to the use of forms and comments on this website;
  • Statistical services (Google Analytics) with respect to understanding the 'macro' level of sources of traffic to the website and the nature of user activity; 
  • Social media providers e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram


I use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • Respond to correspondence;
  • Process any order you send to me for my products;
  • Send out customer feedback requests

I may share this information with Royal Mail Group, Hermes Group, or other courier companies, or with any other organisation where I am required to do so by law. 


​You are also assured of privacy relating to data collected for statistical purposes, however I am dependent on the privacy policies of third parties in this respect. 


Google Analytics helps me to understand which pages are the most popular and how somebody arrived at the site e.g. from an art forum or via a search on Google. It also enables me to know what format most people are using to view pages which helps with design and accessibility issues.


Cookies record information about the location of your IP provider, technical data about your computer and data about which pages you look at on this website and how these were accessed. 


Google Analytics stores information about (including but not limited to):

  • the pages you visit on this website and how long you spend on each page.
  • how you got to the site 
  • what you click on while you’re visiting the site
  • the location generating the visit (in broad terms e.g. a city)

I am able to download some data to my own computer. All data collected is anonymous and is collected solely for statistical purposes, to improve the service offered and is not used in any way to identify individuals. 


Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases I rely on for processing this information are:

(a) Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting https://mwgallery.art/contact

  • For example, in relation to the sale of one of my pieces or if you make an enquiry about a piece or a commission, I may contact you to elicit any feedback you might have.
  • Where you have given consent to the processing of your data you may withdraw it at any time.

(b) I have a contractual obligation.

  • When you purchase a piece of artwork from me, I have an obligation to process your personal data in order to meet that contractual obligation.


How I store your personal information 

Your information is securely stored in protected software systems which are managed on my Windows PC or on webware provided by a third-party supplier including Dropbox. This is limited to your name, postal address, email address and description of the products you purchased. 

I periodically and regularly delete contacts and associated emails from correspondence.

I keep the details of order history and each sales transaction, including your name, postal address and email address for six years (as required by the HMRC and by law). I will then dispose your information by secure destruction methods.

  

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. 

Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete. 

Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, I have one month to respond to you.
